Work-Life Balance Comm 305

My first experience with designing my Wix webpage was a mixture of feelings. Unfortunately, when I created the site, the directions provided by my professor at the time were lacking. Thankfully I have was able to communicate with my classmates and discover excellent tools on how to create an eye-catching webpage from multiple online sources. Initially I was unsure about the usage of a webpage for my professional development, as I am an extremely private person and am used to the more traditional way of job hunting with resumés and cover letters, along with the standard and sometimes difficult task of networking. Thankfully, with my explanations and increased interaction with the Wix portfolio method, I am starting to enjoy the creation and design aspect of the site.

I chose to take this course on Work-Life balance because I am still learning to tackle being a functional adult in both spaces. I have worked full time for companies who sap every ounce of energy and strength out of you, leaving you in a constant state of burn out, often spending your off time thinking about what will happen when you return to work the next day. I have thankfully had the wonderful opportunity to pivot the direction of my professional career, although it was initialized through a traumatic layoff, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Going from a toxic working environment, to an uplifting working environment has allowed me to obtain a better work-life balance, but I look forward to learning new ways to enhance the balance, especially as I am a remote employee.

Maintaining positivity in the workplace is difficult, especially in situations where negativity is rewarded by poor management and leadership. Leadership, management and supervisors want to obtain a team of professionals who will collaborate, complete tasks, attend meetings with enthusiasm and create a fun working environment that will lead to the success of everyone, and this can only be obtained through great work-life balance skills.
